No frills and easy to use, the Indesit IWD7145 is a good basic washing machine that is reasonably priced. The 7kg drum is a decently large size, and if you’re upgrading from a slightly older machine you’ll definitely notice the difference. There are larger drum sizes of 8kg and 9kg on the market, but for normal levels of washing the 7kg is plenty.
Capable of reaching spin speeds of 1400 revolutions per minute — again, it’s not the fastest on the market but it’s certainly enough for the average washing machine user and it means that the clothes are almost dry when they come out of the washing machine to be dried. Even with this quick spin speed the Indesit IWD7145 is quiet, and it absorbs vibration brilliantly.
This machine features several different wash programmes including a silk programme and a delicates programme. The cycles are all different lengths and have different temperatures and spin speeds, but you can adjust the latter two and the length of the cycle is clearly displayed on the front of the machine. It can add an extra rinse at the end of the wash if needed, too, and has features to reduce creases in clothes. The 15 minute quick wash is great for clothes that just need a quick freshen up rather than a full wash to remove stains.
The energy efficiency rating and spin efficiency rating of the Indesit IWD7145 are both B — not fantastic, but could be a lot worse. However it does have sensors built in that allow the machine to automatically adjust water and energy consumption depending on the load weight, so that it’s always washing at optimum performance and as efficiently as possible.
There’s nothing particularly ground breaking about this machine, but it’s a good value washer that should please all but the pickiest.
