Summary

Our Score:

If you’re currently learning Karate or are thinking of taking it up, you’ll probably find Ikata quite a useful reference tool to have on your phone. It puts all the Katas required for examinations, from white belt all the way up to black belt, into the palm of your hand.

Ikata Karate Basic

There are instructions and animations included for the various moves, which should make them easier to memorise. The app is nicely presented with clear instructions and slick animations. It’s also easy to move around the app to check out the various moves quickly. There’s also a Pro version available that covers even more moves, although it is quite pricey at £19.99.

Verdict

If you’re starting out learning Karate or are about to take an exam, this app’s database of kata is likely to prove extremely useful.

Hmmm, think I'll check the Karate app out, although the major problem with all these types of apps is that there are so many different styles of karate (and other martial arts), with variations, especially in things like kata, that they can actually be pretty useless in some cases.
I'll run it by my instructor (GB team Manager!!)
