DO NOT buy one of these. It is a PoS.

Apart from the incredibly crude
printer driver, shorn of even the most basic functions like the ability to
change the % size of what you print, it is, apparently, designed to break down
irretrievably after 12 months and 3 weeks (that's 3 weeks after the warranty

It has been used none too heavily for just over a year.
Considering its a printer for a small office, it has been far from flogged. So,
Thursday afternoon the document feed developed an intractable problem. It
shredded everything fed into it and jammed horribly. Friday morning it failed to
print anything, "pick up motor stall" it said, none too helpfully. This appeared
to mean that the motor that pulls paper out of the try and into the sinister
interior of the machine to print is kaput.

Obviously, you're on Amazon.
Well done, that means that, unlike me, you were not stupid enough to buy your
printer from Fleece Me World, who promptly denied all responsibility for
flogging me some expensive junk that fails after a year.

So, in
conclusion, it does basic things to an adequate standard for a very limited
period of time, then breaks. At £220 for a year's use plus ink, it would have
been cheaper to go to KallKwik with a memory stick every time I wanted to print
something. What a pile of junk (well, that is quite literally all mine is now).
This printer is my most expensive mistake to date.

To offset the preceding comment, we run three of these putting around 7 reams of paper per month through them including a lot of use of duplex (for both scanning and printing) - oldest machine is just on a year old I believe and I can't recall more than half a dozen paper jams all easily solved.

I totally agree with this comment! I purchased mine in 2012 and it stopped working right at about the 12 month mark. I contacted Staples where I purchased it from and they told me to contact the warranty company (Assurance). They in turn sent me a refurbished printer that started eating my paper from day one of plugging it in! This has been almost 2 months now and each time I call Staples to see if my claim has been reviewed, I get conflicting answers from their horrible customer service reps. I will not buy this printer again and definitely not deal with Staples either. HP must have some sort of racket going on because the ink is outrageously over priced and their printer stops working past 12 months!

I'm not one to generally write negative reviews, and I have to say although I haven't used it that much, I've enjoyed this printer for just over a year until I went to scan today. No matter what I did the printer would not scan and kept on spitting out a page filled with coloured lines all over it. After doing some research I found a link on the HP website http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t... with heaps of people with the same problem. After calling HP directly and going through all the things I had already done to try and alleviate the issue for over an hour nothing else could be done. She told me because it was a few month out of warranty, even though all the people in tech support are aware of the issue and that it's factory related they are not able to replace it. They could only offer me a discount on a new printer. Why would I want to purchase another printer from a company that won't take responsibility for an issue with their product. I don't recommend this printer, and I personally will never consider purchasing HP ever again.

Do not buy this product! I am warning you this because a few of my doc was torn even as the product was replaced. I called hp and they blame it on the paper! I am telling you not let this big fat corporation get any bigger till they will control the paper market. This product is not versatile in accommodating any paper type (paper type that is available in the market). I am telling you don't waste your money!!!

After using this printer for the past few years, the first malfunction to occur is the touchscreen display. It starts to fade to the point that you can't read it and that's the point where it becomes useless unless you remember where to touch by memory. I would have to shut off the printer and turn it back on to make the screen barely discernible again. Otherwise, it has functioned well.
