With an A rated washing performance the Hotpoint WDF740 is able to remove smells and stains from clothes easily. There are several different functions which you can select depending on what your particular washing needs are with users also given the option to shorten the programmes with the fast wash setting. The Daily Wash 30°C setting is perfect for your general washing needs with small loads benefiting from the half load setting.
If you needed to wash delicate items there’s a silk programme, and the wool cycle has been endorsed by Woolmark. For those with younger children there’s a Baby Cycle, which gets rid of all the stubborn and icky stains associated with young children far more efficiently than the 40°C cotton wash cycle. No matter what programme you select you can adjust the spin to your liking, and the automatic consumption control will make sure that the Hotpoint WDF740 uses exactly the right amount of water and electricity to get the clothes clean.
What isn’t great and family friendly about the Hotpoint WDF740 is the amount of noise it makes. You really couldn’t put it on when the kids are down for a nap. The cycle times are excessively long, too, so you might have to use the start delay option to set it to run whilst you’re out. It’s nice and easy to use, though.
The biggest problem with the Hotpoint WDF740 is the dryer. Most dryers on washer-dyers aren’t great, but this one is said to be really quite awful. The clothes need airing after they’ve come out of the machine and even with a small load it takes ages to dry them. In some cases it doesn’t do anything but heat up the clothes whilst keeping them wet.
