With one large, spacious compartment, the SH53 would be ideal in any household kitchen, being wide enough and deep enough to hold plenty on each of the two provided shelves. The oven also doubles up as a grill, with a full-surface grill element on the top of the device. The in-built fan keeps the heat circulating around the oven to keep food the same temperature on any shelf, and, being electric, there is little need for pre-heating before putting food into this model.
Playing host to five pre-programmable cooking functions, the Hotpoint SH53 can be timed to turn on and off automatically, allowing you to leave the oven without worrying about ruining food. The instructions and use of the timer are both very simple, and the buttons are recessed for a clean look. The temperature control dials also look great, and are large and easy to read. Overall, the oven looks great, with a stainless steel finish and a large window that is easy to see through.
The inside of the oven is enamel lined, as well as the grill pan, for easy cleaning, and the shelves are easy to remove. The Hotpoint SH53 has also been awarded the highest energy efficiency rating of 'A', meaning it will save money on bills, using 20 per cent less energy than a conventional oven.
On top of all of this, the SH53 manages to be a quiet-running fan-assisted oven, which is very rare indeed. The only widespread reported problem with this oven is that the doors do get very hot, any issue that other ovens have managed to fix, but despite this minor issue, the SH53 is a brilliant oven, with plenty of modern conveniences that will cook your food evenly and quickly.
