Like pretty much every multimedia company out there, Aigo also has a hand held video player. The sample that was on the Aigo stand had a good look and feel to it, and playback of MPEG4 video was smooth. The form factor was pretty similar to all the other hand held video players I’ve seen. We’ll see how Aigo’s unit fares against the already established Archos devices.

But MPEG4 video players don’t all have to look the same. Also on display was one of the smallest MPEG4 players that I’ve seen.

The Aigo MTV Player is a tiny device that’s smaller than some MP3 players. The colour screen dominates the front fascia, and MPEG4 playback was very good. The MTV Player will, of course, playback MP3 and WMA files as well as video. Strangely Aigo has chosen to make the MTV Player flash based, although I was told that capacities up to 2GB should be available.

What I’d really like to see is an MTV Player with a 5GB hard disk in it – a far more video friendly capacity. The MTV Player will also show JPEG images – Aigo was showing this feature off with a slideshow of lingerie models!
