LG also reiterated its support for the Blu-ray format, stating that it’s the only format that satisfies all the needs for a next generation optical storage format. The battle between Blu-ray and HD-DVD is going to be hard fought in 2005; let’s just hope that the consumer doesn’t end up being the loser.



Finally, LG made it clear that it’s not just an R&D company – it wants to sell all the products that its R&D labs bring to fruition. As an example of this, LG stated that the 71in plasma display that it unveiled at CES last year would actually be going on sale in the next few months. LG insisted that it already had back orders for the screen despite its $75,000 price tag – yes you read that right, $75,000!
