Nearly a year after the 'industry' or sorry should that be the 'consumer', killed of HD-DVD we are still only now seeing BluRay players released that meet the finalised BluRay specifications !!

Any word on whether the red version will be coming to UK? Would look spot on with my A656 TV

@thats why I always preferred HD DVD still glad I haven't bought into any format yet. BTW there is CH DVD still to watch out for since that is backed by the Chinese govt. so once that gets going (later this year) who knows.

@ Andrew. I think I have an idea how that might go. Since Blu-Ray is now the considered standard in the rest of the world it's rather late for something else to come to the party, especially now a lot of people have already bought into Blu-Ray.
Besides, since when has anything supported solely by the Chinese government ever become mainstream in the rest of the world? They don't even have manufacturer support. (I suspect this comment would make TR outlawed and/or censored in China, so publish at your peril!)
Also FYI it's now formally known as CBHD, for some reason.

@smc8788 warner bros are officially supporting CH DVD (CBHD is its first original name from 2007) as from feb 09 and samsung are going to be producing dual blu ray CH DVD decks from 2010, potentially worlwide as CH DVD is so much cheaper. The problem with blu ray at the moment is the still crazy high royalty fees manufactures have to pay. For CH DVD the royalty fees and next to non exsistent.

Beautiful. Want one - even before I started reading the review, when I saw that awesome scanner lid-like photo.
But I can see why it's a 9/10. We all know the optimal load time for Spider-Man 3 is
"ERROR. BAD DISC."

I'm not normally a Samsung fan and won't be buying one of these.
However, this a sterling effort to break the boxy disc spinners we've had so far and at a sensible price - so "Bravo Samsung" !!

BD-P3600 mass production for EU market w13, BD-P4600 w14.
BD-P4600 EU only charcoal gray finishing, Korean HQ marketing decision

I think I prefer the more conventional looking BD-P3600 - any idea when it's being released?
