I suppose it would be ideal for NTSC (480 horizontal lines) discs but I expect this unit is not region free.
Alternatively, is it possible to zoom into the picture such that Cinemascope movies (2.35:1) appear at a non-scaled resolution as they would not require the full 576 lines of a PAL disc?

Just wondered how that 800x480 screen can be 'ideal' for viewing 720x576 DVD video footage.
I would have thought that downsampling the vertical axis would create some nasty artifacts, such as artificial jaggies in diagonal edges, ropey subtitles and pixel popping.
