Sony has added another Blu-ray player to its line-up, the BDP-S360, alongside a set of surround sound systems. The player and the systems are an upgrade to those packing the BDP-S350 bringing what, to my mind at least, is a slightly more refined design, shaving some 12 per cent off its dimensions in the process.

Feature wise there's little to complain about. Sony's Xross Media Bar is present for control, being profile 2.0 compliant - with the requisite Ethernet port and local storage - the S360 can play BD Live content with no complaints and a start-up time of just six seconds is hardly to be sniffed at. A USB port enables the transfer of downloaded content (via BD Live) to another device.

DVD up-scaling to 1080p is also featured, as is 24p playback Deep Colour support is present for the limited content available offering it and the S360 will also play x.v.Color AVCHD content.

On the surround sound front the S360 comes with 7.1-channel satellite speakers as the HT-SS360 with the HT-SF360 providing same number of floor standing speakers. Both sport Sony's Digital Cinema Auto Calibration technology, saving the end user the effort of manually calibrating the installed set-up. Both also offer S-Air wireless capability.

Rounding out the trio of home cinema in-a-box systems is the 2.1-channel HT-FS3 kit, with an AM/FM tuner for those still living in the analogue ages.

Pricing and availability isn't mentioned for any of the systems.

Update
Our friendly local Sony reps have been in touch to tell us that the HT-SF360 system won't be available in the UK and that the BDP-S360 is expected to sell for around £230 once available in July. Which sounds pretty reasonable to me.
