I really don't see the point, for an extra £50 get yourself a PS3. For that you get a full internet browser and the capability to stream all your media from your PC. I also hear they can be used to play games too...

Agreed. I'd rather have a PS3 thanks.

I agree too. But I'd like the PS3 to look like these do.

The profile 2.0 comment is not entirely correct. Whilst you had to upgrade the S350 manually, the S550 was profile 2.0 out of the box.

For my use (and every one has different requirements), the PS3 doesn't quite cut it. True it is a fantastic bit of kit, bit it is completely out of place in a home cinema setup.

Firstly, the remote controller is bluetooth only - there is no universal / learning remote on the market that copes with this, so you need to sit down with 2 remote controls.

Second, it gets noisy when the fan kicks in - can actually distract from the movie.

Also, it's not quite rack friendly - in a home cinema setup, the kit is usually in a rack.

Lastly, the price - I picked up my S550 3 months ago for £220. You need to shop around.

Before any PS3 lovers bite my head off, I own one and love it. I'm simply expressing my opinion that it's not the best suited for home cinema use - in my opinion.

@Prem, I agree in that it's horses for courses, the PS3 is not a dedicated bit of home cinema kit. But for me it's a one box solution that sits under my TV and looks the part.
