Maybe we'll finally see BluRay drives landing as a CTO option in Mac Pro's before too long then! If this puts an end to Steve Jobs' "bag of hurt" surrounding BluRay that is...

the only use i'd see for bluray is movie playback... and i'm waiting for a laptop drive to come cheap. bluray in a 13 inch laptop is win for me.

Ho, ho, what's this? Does this mean Steve's "bag of hurt" could be history? I'd like to think they haven't completely abandoned the idea.

Maybe it's just me being cynical, but it can't just be co-incidence that these large companies who are struggling with the credit crunch have now got their act together.
The fact that we are now being told that both blu-ray discs and players should now become cheaper later on this year is only going to make people hold on once again before moving over to blu-ray. If the VAT reduction that was brought in a few months ago could be implemented within a couple of weeks of its announcement, why the wait with reductions for blu-ray.
