If you're of the persuasion whereby you want to use your PC monitor as your TV too, Compro's forthcoming W800F may be right up your street. It's not exactly a glamorous device, but it packs a fairly decent spec which should be enough for its target audience.

The W800F packs a DVB-T tuner (read: Freeview) and the ability to play video content in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 formats from a USB drive. The tuner also supports Picture in Picture in addition to the pausing of live TV - as offered many such devices.

Adding to the mix the W800F offers Composite and S-Video inputs for passing standard definition sourced through to a monitor, in addition to a Component input accepting up to 1080i sources. Output support comes via VGA, with resolutions up to 1,920 x 1,200.

The W800F will be available to buy from the end of February if you're so inclined.
