Yes, I also can't see the advantages of this over a USB or PCI TV tuner connected to your computer. Anyone care to offer some?

I think the idea is that you don't have to switch your PC on though. I'll know more when the sample arrives in the office.

Indeed, Riyad is right, I had a similar product, although not quite as fancy and it allows you to watch TV on your screen without turning on your PC. As there's no cooling fan they're quiet and they draw a lot less power than a PC. It would also allow you to connect a console to a computer screen if the console doesn't have D-sub connectivity or the display lacks other inputs than D-sub or DVI.

Would the remote control work for volume or fast forwarding DVD's on your PC?

does it do both? i mean recording to a PC if it connected to one and standard Freeview box if it isn't?
that would be good

I can see that not having to switch on your PC might be useful for some people who use their monitor as a TV (read: students), but how many would spend the money on this instead of a PC tuner? Quite a narrow market they're going for here I think. If it's dirt cheap they could be onto something though.

Not sure about this one. Surely if you already have a computer monitor then you already have a computer attached to it? If you do, the addition of a £30 - £60 TV tuner will allow you to use Windows Media Centre to watch and record your TV (assuming you have a capable version of Windows). Media Centre is much maligned, but surely it's a far more capable alternative?
