As concepts go a portable Blu-ray player is definitely one of the stranger ones. Still, as Panasonic has undoubtedly decided, if people wanted to watch DVDs on the move, why not Blu-ray too? We can think of a few reasons, but we're sure you can work them out for yourselves.

Interestingly, though the screen is obviously nothing like HD quality, sporting a netbook-esque 1024 x 600 resolution, the DMP-15 features all the same technologies and processing chips that are found in Panasonic's larger players. These include Viera Cast, Panasonic's new networked content platform, and its much lauded PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus. As a consequence, though this is a portable player, it can be used just like any other Blu-ray player, connected to a home theatre system, AV receiver or directly to a TV. Then, when on the move, there's an optional head-rest mount for in-car use.

You can also view photos and videos via an SD Card slot, just like on other Panasonic players, while the battery is said to offer three hours of playback on a full charge - not exactly a big number, truth be told. Pricing and availability aren't yet known, but we bank on it being expensive.
