Further to the launch of the CV, VX and ZF LCD HDTV ranges, Toshiba is now also offering up some slightly smaller fare, in the form of the SDP120DT. An 11.8in panelled device which serves both as a DVD player and as a DVB-T broadcast receiving portable TV.

The TV sports an IPS panel, as opposed to the TN offerings we see in many lower-scoring monitors. This promises decent video quality and 170 degree viewing angles, aiding those watching it from the sides of a communal gathering (might 11.8in be rather small for that?).

In addition to the Freeview and DVD playback already mentioned the set will also pick up digital radio broadcasts and, more usefully for a TV, can playback various media formats from DVD, including DivX video.

The set also boats an HDMI port, although why you'd want one on such a small screen is questionable. Still, if you happen to be hauling a PS3 or HDMI-fitted Xbox 360 around, then you might find it useful. Also on the input front are card readers for SD, MMC, MS, MD Pro and xD formats.

Toshiba claims a 3-hour battery life which isn't exactly overwhelming, so you'd almost certainly want a second pack. Availability-wise you can get your hands on one from April when the TV, which comes with a set of headphones too, will set you back £299.
