If you have a good local dealer: which has good return policy (30 Days No Question Ask Guarantee); which takes care of customers post sales. You are so very curious, and you don't mind "No EQ", basically one sound. Then, give it a try.
Why I said that? The build quality has been (still is) a big problem. In China, some had gone through three replacements; it was not pleasant, but the company is man enough standing up for their products. However, if you lived in another country (without a good local dealer), can you image shipping cost, custom clearance, fee and duty? Not to mention your time and your frustration. Some head-fi members can't hear big difference between Hifiman and other well-EQed players (roll-off the treble, that is the key.) Truth is, every player has its own sound signature; believe your ears, that's what matters most.
