True wireless earphones have come a long way since Apple released its original Air Pods in 2016.
Thanks to advancements from big-name players, including Sony and Jabra, there’s now a multitude of different true wireless sets, each targeting very specific parts of the market.
Highlights include Sony’s amazing engineering work building ANC (active noise cancellation) into its award-winning WF-1000X set, and more recently Bose with its latest SoundSport Free earphones, which look set to bring the company’s classic sound to the gym and exercise market.
While the increase in choice is great, it makes it a tricky task working out which true wireless set is best for you. After all, there’s no point spending oodles of cash on a set with a heart-rate monitor or getting a top-end set with ANC if you’re just a casual listener looking to enjoy the benefits of wire-free headphones on the morning commute.
