While many manufacturers choose to overclock GPU and memory compared to nVidia’s reference design, Leadtek tends to keep things on the level, generally offering standard fair. This doesn’t mean that its cards are worse than the competition, but it does make them a tad dull. The PX6800GS TDH has a core clock speed of 425MHz and 256MB of DDR3 RAM running at 1,000MHz.

There’s nothing to stop the end user from letting rip with the help of Coolbits or their favourite overclocking utility but it means that there’s no guarantee how successful your overclocking will be. On the upside its cards tend to be a bit cheaper as a result. XFX also offer a GS card but its pre-overclocked offering comes in at £182.07
It’s no surprise then that the WinFast PC6800GS looks very much like a reference card, though it is a bit smarter with a shiny black covering over the copper heatsink and fan. The SLI connector is present at the top, while at the rear there’s a power connector.

A twin molex to single six-pin PCI Express connector is included in the box as well as Component, S-video and composite. As a mid-range card it’s no surprise to see only one DVI port, along with a D-Sub. Also included in the package are a couple of games – Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, old but good, and the excellent Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, which will be a good showcase for the 6800 GS’s Shader Model 3 capabilities.
