GeForce 7800 GTX Head-to-Head

Due to the lower clock speeds of the WinFast PX7800 GTX TDH compared to the Extreme N7800 GTX TOP, the performance isn’t quite as good. Saying that, it’s only marginally slower and unless you’re a really hardcore gamer you wouldn’t notice the difference. You do save a £7 going for the Leadtek card over the Asus, but when you’re spending in the region of £350 this is a miniscule amount and it shouldn’t really sway you one way or another.

Both cards are very fast and with prices slowly coming down from the early inflated prices you had to pay a month ago, the 7800 GTX has yet to be threatened from ATI. However, you could save yourself a good £80 or so by going with a 7800 GT which offers almost as good performance. If you’re stuck on a 1,280 x 1,024 display – be it TFT or CRT – a 7800 GTX is virtually a waste. But for those with higher resolution screens, the 7800 GTX is the daddy.

Verdict
The Leadtek WinFast PX7800 GTX TDH is not quite as fast as the Asus Extreme N7800 GTX TOP but it’s far from slow and comes with a better games bundle. It’s a shame that the performance BIOS doesn’t ship pre-installed though.
