The Leadtek WinFast PX7800 GTX TDH follows the reference design in every detail bar the plastic shrouding on the cooler which has been given a small WinFast logo. Leadtek ships the cards with a default clock speed of 430/1200MHz for the core and memory. However, since most manufacturers are selling their cards at much higher speeds you can download a BIOS upgrade from the Leadtek website. This works in Windows and will change the clock speeds of your card to 450/1250MHz for the core and memory.

As a free speed boost, this is not a bad thing, as long as you’re happy with flashing the BIOS on your graphics card, which is potentially risky, though you'd be pretty unlucky for anything untoward to happen. It’s worth doing though as it’s not hard and only takes a minute or two. Aside from this, it’s all pretty standard with two DVI connectors and ViVo functionality.

I’m not that fond of the ViVo dongle that Leadtek has supplied as it’s a real pain to have to crawl behind your computer every time you want to plug something in. The component video out shares one of its cables with the composite out, though you'd never want to use composite if you can use component. S-Video out is also supported as areS-video and composite inputs.

The Leadtek software bundle isn’t quite as comprehensive as the Asus one, but it’s not poor either. You get a copy of PowerDVD, VideoStudio 8SE DVD and DVD MovieFactory 3SE. The game bundle is also smaller, but slightly more refined with a copy of Prince of Persia Warrior Within and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. These might or might not be games you already have, but at least Splinter Cell will be able to show off the HDR rendering capabilities of the 7800 GTX GPU better than the games with the Asus card.
