ATI has announced its midrange parts to the compliment the 5870 and 5850: the '5770' and '5750' and each will take a far less weight from your wallet at $159 and $129 respectively with a hefty 1GB of GDDR5 memory. A 512MB 5750 will also be available from $109.
As with most forward thinking ATI cards these days you'll find a pair of DVI outputs, HDMI and DisplayPort while up to three displays can be powered simultaneously. As for raw power, the 5700 series is based on the 40nm Juniper chip with the 5770 replacing the 4770, though having enough oomph to challenge the 4850. Compared to the 5800 line however you will notice a significant drop off with the stream processor reduced from 1600 (5870) and 1440 (5850) to 800 (5770) and 720 (5750) though core and memory clocks are similar at 850MHz and 700MHz and 1.2GHz and 1.15GHz respectively.
That said, in terms of power draw, the 5770 and 5750 are just half their 5800 series equivalents at 108W and 86W so you'll be saving the planet as well as your pay cheques (well, a teeny, weeny bit).
The HD Radeon 5770 and 5750 are hitting the high street immediately via third party partners so if you fancy gaming on a budget you know what to do...

Maybe you should reread the part where you state the amount of stream processing units each GPU has, as I'm pretty sure a 5870 doesn't have 1600MHz in processing units.
