New MacBook GPU Made Available To All

A lot has been made of Apple's new MacBooks (finally) getting a decent graphics chip but now you won't need to splash out on one of the pricey aluminium monsters if you'd like to get your hands on one...
Yep, just two days after the Apple's big launch nVidia has made the much hyped GeForce 9400M GPU available to all notebook manufacturers and its design - which merges with a full mainboard chipset (including bus controller and memory) - should herald the arrival of even slimmer yet more powerful notebooks.

nVidia claims the 9400M will boast up to 5x the performance of Intel's GMA 4500MHD from its own 3D Mark Vantage tests as well as supporting the full range of GeForce 9 series features such as Shader Model 4 visuals, HD video decoding, Hybrid SLI, PhysX compatibility and the much heralded CUDA base.
Interestingly however nVidia hasn't come up with the usual raft of laptop partners in its release, though that seems only a matter of time and is probably connected to the ever secretive (if these days slightly more leaky) Apple privacy clauses.
Personally, I suspect we'll see a slew of announcements any minute...
