Matrox Launches M-Series Graphics Cards

Maxtox, the oft-forgotten fourth player in the GPU arena (behind Intel, nVidia and AMD/ATI), may not have GPU offerings to rival the GeForce GTX 280 or the Radeon HD 4870 but that doesn't mean it can't push its own boundary's - at least in the corporate domain. A point the company is proving with the M-series of multi-monitor graphics cards.


Five cards make up the new range, all of which feature 512MB of memory, passive cooled, fanless designs and WHQL drivers for both XP and Vista - an important consideration for corporate environments.

The cards are then differentiated as follows.

M9120 PCIe x16:
Dual DVI outputs, up to 1,920 x 1,200
$259 (~£130) MSRP

M9120 Plus LP PCIe x16:
PCI Express x16 connection
Can be upgraded to quad VGA outputs using an adaptor (sold separately)
$329 (~£165) MSRP

M9120 Plus LP PCIe x1:
PCI Express x16 connection
Can be upgraded to quad VGA outputs using an adaptor (sold separately)
$329 (~£165) MSRP

M9125 PCIe x16:
Dual dual-link DVI outputs up to 2,560 x 1,600 (2,048 x 1,536 using a VGA adaptor)
$399 (~£400) MSRP

M9140 LP PCIe x16:
Quad DVI outputs up to 1,920 x 1,200
$599 (~£300) MSRP

The cards allow all the connected monitors to be run either as one giant desktop, or independently as per user preference - and even support portrait oriented screens.

I'm going to be dreaming of quad-24in monitor set-ups for weeks to come…
