Info-Tek First With X800GT Cards

There’s life in the old girl yet. With the seemingly endless delay of ATI’s next generation part, the R520, the trusty old X800 proves it can do the work of many with yet another variation.

Beginning with prices as low as £95 including VAT (courtesy of whippet out the gates Info-Tek and its GeCube line), the new PCI Express based X800GT is an eight pipeline, 475MHz, D-Sub capable (through a dongle), HDTV out, DVI sporting, near silent bargain.

Info-Tek itself will be releasing three different versions each separated by memory with the (deep breath for silly model names) GC-RX800GT3-D3 top of the line with 256MB of GDDR3, next is the GC-RX800GT2-D3 (gasp) with its 256MB of DDR2 and bringing up the rear is the (one last time) GC-X800GT-C3 with 128MB of standard DDR.

Temperatures are kept down via the Uni-Wise Cooling System which comes with intelligent fan control and the relatively low clock rates on these cards mean users should hear pins drop in and around their vicinity.

As I mentioned earlier, prices begin at just £95 including VAT and rise a tiddly amount to £98.50 inclusive and then on to £106 all in as you go up the range. If I had to bet on one I’d got for the GDDR3 edition (I refuse to say those codes again) since what is a tenner between friends?

With the X800, X800GT, X800PRO, X800XL and X800XT we’re just waiting on the X800ABCDEFG to complete the range. The GT should cause nVidia a few sleepless nights at this end of the market, so grab em while their hot people.
