There's no denying that the Wii has been a huge success and if I'm any judge a large part of that is down to the unique (if not revolutionary) control method. Who among you hasn't enjoyed a quick game of Wii Tennis, Bowling or even Baseball? You may even be one of the many Wii owners apparently using the daily workout function in Wii Sports to get fit. But what if there was a game dedicated to using the Wii for improving fitness? Well, as it happens there is, it's called Wii Fit, and it has just launched in the UK.

Comprised of two parts, the Balance Board and the Wii Fit game itself, the package will set you back £70. That may sound a bit steep, but it's not a dissimilar cost to Guitar Hero, and you aren't going to loose weight just by championing Through the Fire and Flames on Expert difficulty.

Whether just doing push ups, step aerobics and yoga to improve your body mass index, or partaking in more ‘fun' games such as hula hooping and snowboarding Wii Fit should provide a decent level of entertainment. Better yet, you'll be getting some exercise too - who said computer games weren't healthy?

Wii Fit has actually been available in Japan for around five months now, during which about 1.5 million units have been sold. It's unsurprising then that Nintendo has only just been able to bring that game to the UK. As it happens, if you aren't already cradling your balance board as you read this you may struggle to find a copy of Wii Fit . Taking a quick gander at the main e-tailors, Amazon, Play and Game are all of stock already - my guess being that, as with the Wii itself, all available stock has been exhausted on pre-orders. Get you're fingers crossed and try your local shops if you're really desperate to get into the action.
