It's been a long, long time since the last Gran Turismo game came out, three years for those of you counting, but finally we're drawing ever closer to the release of the sequel to the brilliant Gran Turismo 4. Alas the full version of GT5 is yet to be released, but as some recompense we now have a release date and price for GT5 Prologue, the cut-down preview version of the much-anticipated game.

Wednesday the 26th of March is the date upon which you will require £25 to acquire yourself a copy of the title - unless you wish to download it from PlayStation Network where it's available a day later. Either way will allow you access to a sample of 71 cars and six tracks, though the full game will feature a lot more than that.

GT5 also boasts a completely reworked and significantly improved physics system, greatly improved driver AI and, perhaps one of the most awaited additions, 16-player online multiplayer. A feature called Gran Turismo TV will also make its début, offering access to motorsport content via a dedicated channel on PSN.

Some may wish to critique GT5 Prologue for simply being a glorified, and unthinkably paid for, demo version of one of the most wanted games of 2008. Those is the know, however, will be well aware that even on its own Prologue will easily provide a good few weekends worth of solitary entertainment - not to mention the multiplayer, including online, aspects.
