It’s been a whole week since Sony’s PSP has been featured in our news, which means it must be time for another announcement. So here it is, as of early 2008 you will be able to download Sky TV programs and films to watch on your console. Currently the deal is UK-only (possibly a first for Sony), but there are apparently plans to bring the service to the rest of Europe. While it may be a bit late in the day for Sony, it does appear to be lending some credence to its pretension that the PSP is more than just a portable games console.

Rupert Murdock (that’s Sky’s boss in case you didn’t realise), did say that he would be interested in providing a similar service to Nintendo’s DS, but that no discussion has taken place regarding the matter. Still, there’s no doubting that the PSP is better geared for the content, considering its better screen, USB connectivity and MemoryStick drive. All you need now is to start saving up for a new slimline PSP and the subscription fee. That and rejoice that UMD won't be used - much to the delight of all at TR.
