I hadn’t heard of Datel until recently, but the UK peripherals company is fast becoming the PSP accessory king.

In August it launched the impressive X2 battery and now it has combined this with a 4GB HDD, meaning more playing time and more space (though the hard drive will no doubt drain some of the X2’s purported eight hour battery life).

How does it work? Well, the 3600 mAh X2 battery replaces the original one supplied by Sony and the 4GB HDD clips on the other side of the back of the PSP, making the unit symmetrical again. The drive itself has a small cable to connect it to the memory card slot. As part of the bundle, Datel is also throwing in one of its Max Media USB cables, which allows the PSP to plug directly into a PC. Supplied software enables drag and drop file transfer.

Dark Planets and eternal Sony lawyer target Lik Sang are already listing the new and improved 4GB X2 battery for £149.95 and 306.36 euros respectively. The release date is 20 October and given that a 2GB Memory Stick Duo will set you back over £200, it looks a bargain.
