"includes duplex print and wireless connection, perhaps the two most popular print innovations of the last couple of years"Compare with this, from October 2005:http://www.trustedreviews.com/...Incidentally, back in 2005 you published claimed and actual page yields. Now you only publish claimed yields. Whilst it is a convenience to have the manufacturer's claims repeated here, I look to TR to actually test these claims. Likewise the all important costs per page, how are these derived for the purposes of this report?
2 years ago I got a new Epson all in one. After 2 full color pages the new ink cartridges were already empty. Epson claimed they are just for the initial filling of the lines and some test prints. Opening the "spent" black cartridge showed a lot of ink still left. Buying chipped non Epson cartridges, some run into problem with the chipping. Sometimes the Epson would not print even if all cartridges were at least half full. I finally got so mad that I gave the Epson away, got myself a used brother all in one DCP 115C what has honest see through cartridges and in case of a snafu is easily fooled with a bit black sticky tape. Since then I enjoy a printer what works every time I want to, very low printing cost since the cartridges are easy to refill and are very chap to get new.I will never buy a chipped printer again
The biggest problem I've had with Epson's in the past is that if you didn't use them for any period of time, it required you did the head cleaning procedure, that wasted Ink & Paper. I'm now using HP's, this doesn't seem to be a problem, I can go months without using it, and the next print is perfect, no head cleaning required. I do have one gripe with HP though, if the ink levels on one of the colour cartridges gets low it doesn't give you the option to continue, but rather only allows you to print B/W, not a major problem though as the cartridges don't seem that expensive.
