According to the Linux printing database, this printer (Epson Stylus S21) 'works perfectly' with Linux using the gutenprint drivers.

I have tried to use it with gutenprint, does not work.

For the other parts it's a nice printer for its price. It prints very high quality photos, not worse than my other much more expensive HP Photosmart.

Never inserted original cartridges, I use refillables with auto reset chips and bulk ink. Never had any cloggs and stuff.

You can use the Download for Epson Stylus S21/T21/T24/T27 for openSUSE 11.1 from http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/l... to install Photo Image Print System from Epson, this worked for me on openSUSE 11.2 (and other Distros are available at same URL). I just had to install glitz first from the standrda packages. Printer working perfectly for me with this driver.

Don't buy this printer. There are always problems with the ink cartridges. All of a sudden the printer does not recognize the cartridges or prompts you to exchange cartridges that are not empty. I will throw it in the trash and buy another one.

I'm with kulturmonstret on this one-this stupid printer has caused me a lot of stress of the last two days. I bought new catridges and it still doesn't recognise them and won't print. Absolutely frustrating.
