While they may be first to supply *publicly* they're not the first to supply an 802.11ac router to users in the UK, BT have been doing it for several months, theirs also includes an integrated VDSL2 modem.

Incidentally the BT one also seems superior having a 3x3 antenna array and five gigabit ports

Problem is that being EE, it is hallmark for something which doesn't work and shoddy service

Hi guys, I thought you might be interested in an article I've just published about the BrightBox highlighting quite a few serious security concerns. Check it out on my blog:

Brightbox2 does not support VPN's or SNMP. Anyone know of a an integrated VDSL2 router as a replacement for the Brightbox 2

Wifi Stability is extremly poor with 10's of dropouts an hour maing some applications especially on phone apps unusable. EE as per usual where unable to help technically and of course impossible to speak to some one with contextual experience. They disabled all of the security features and seemed to believe this was an acceptable solution even though it wasnt working. Avoid bothe EE and the Brightbox 2

it does actually but the application needs to be installed on your pc or mac not the router. I use purevpn absolutely fine on win 10 pro using the brightbox 2!

We have a small house with small rooms and yet this router does not send a signal from front to back. Previously we had a very large house with massive rooms and thick stone walls yet the BT router we had (Mk iv) had no problem reaching all of the house.

So unless you're in a studio flat I wouldn't rely on this
