Lucky you didn't order online @ carphonewarehouse.com

I ordered mine on Monday 7th (only as the O2 site had crashed) and I still have not got it!

(Might turn up on Monday I guess?) - But the whole process was full of errors and miss-information. = Last time I order anything from them again.

I was lucky I got a 16gb 3G form the Oxford St branch of 02 having queued from 6:40am with 9 others, by the time it opened there were 50 or more.
02 selling Iphones - not fit for purpose. Who did the operational planning? The IT testing? The fallback system? The training? The rollout plan? The upgrade path? Sack them all and if Apple continue to give them an exclusive supply on this, they must be mad! You can join the Facebook Group to lobby Apple http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=26744422550

I ordered from CPW on Monday 7th, received it on Friday and managed to 'activate' it in the afternoon, however I still have no service. O2 reckon that it could be until Tuesday before they connect me!

Got to the Walsall O2 store at around 8:30am to find a queue of about 30 people waiting and controlled by a security guard.

On the opposite side of the high street to the O2 store was a CarphoneWarehouse with no queue outside, I thought this to be strange but tried my luck there. It seemed there were still iPhones available; I managed to get the last 16gb version.

Though all systems were up and running there was a 10 min wait for credit checking but still I walked out with my iPhone after 30mins of walking in.

One problem I did have was that being an O2 customer on the Simplicity 15 tariff I wanted to upgrade and keep my existing O2 number, I was told by the CarphoneWarehouse store that upgrading was not possible on this tariff and that I needed a new subscription which I went ahead with.

After a call to O2 I found that I was misinformed by CarphoneWarehouse and that I could have upgraded, O2 also said that I was not the only person in that situation.

Finally got mine activated about 10:30pm friday night and had a good play with all new apps, email, wifi, etc...... but told no chance of getting O2 active until monday at the earliest. Imagine my surprise when the phone came online at 11am this morning. Great phone, no need for a manual and the best phone I've ever owned. However.....

This doesn't excuse O2's total lack of ANY ability to plan or execute ANYTHING. I used to work for BT when they were BTCellnet and they still have the same totally unfit for purpose billing and ordering system. I couldn't believe how bad it was when I saw it. All the O2 staff were desperately trying to make the best of a bad situation but that's no excuse for the service received in attempting to make the purchase.

I got to my local carphone warehouse store at around 6:45, there were 5 others there. One of them said they only had 2 16gb models, and he and another guy in front of me had dibs on them. Now i had enough trouble getting anywhere near enough music on my 16gb ipod touch, so i definitely did not want a down-grade. After asking the manager when he turned up about the number of 16 giggers (it was 2...) i left, to look for another carphone warehouse. Turns out there was one about 10 minutes down the road. I got there, and there was no queue...weird...Anyway, waited, from about 7:45 to 9:00 when it opened (the manager lived a long way away, so they were not opening at 8:02). By this point a pretty big queue had formed behind me. So anyway, after about 90 minutes of waiting for a credit check to complete, i walked away with one of the 2 16 gig iphones they had :D

I still can't believe how lucky i was about it all. Now a very happy owner of said iphone :D

I ordered my 16GB iPhone online at CPW about 6.45pm on Thurday 10th July. I received an email stating my order was being processed. The next day I received another email stating that it would be delivered to my designated CPW store on Saturday 12th July and I would receive a email confirming the dispatch of the phone. I had not received this email Saturday so I rang the number provided only to be told I may receive it on Friday 18th July.I am so disappointed, especially as it took a 30 minute placed on hold call to find this out. Has anyone else had the same experience?

I ordered my iPhone 3G on thursday afternoon, received an e-mail and a text message from the carphone warehouse telling me that the order had been accepted. tried tracking my order online but it just kept saying "processing". By sunday, FINALLY managed to speak to someone at CPW, they said there was no trace of the order, sorry sold out.

That sucks mate BUT just wait a week or two - I'm sure stock will flow. If you have a genuine need for a 3G then what's a few days? Everyone's spooging about having their on Day 1, but I bet by Day 3 they'll have gotten over the launch fever and probably won't use 3G data *that* often anyway

Dont know what the fuss is about carphone warehouse in Belfast still has loads of them, infact the store guy said he didnt sell any on the launch day. I tried to buy one but it turns out the dork who misled me in the o2 shop in Lisburn on a simplicity contract with the view to change over etc come the 11th, cant be done until my 30 days run out first.. ho hum "Only Stupid people cause problems" comes to mind.

Or..... maybe wait a month or so when supply will not be a problem? You won't die or be shunned. I promise.

Went into Apple shop at Meadowhall. Have you got any in? Yes. Oh good. Spent half an hour trying to tell me how good Mobile Me was and then eventually I said Ok, I will buy one. Oh, he said. You have to get here tomorrow morning and register to come back later in the day for an appointment to buy one blah blah. Assuming there are any in when you come back blah blah.
Anybody want to hear how good my new HTC Diamond is? 2 mins to walf from Apple to Orange shop. 10 mins later it was in a carrier bag and I was walking past Apple to et to my car and get home to charge my new toy.
