Like all the displays in the group test, the SyncMaster 213T has a native resolution of 1,600 x 1,200. There really is no way to express how great it is to work with a high resolution like this every day, you really just have to try it. But be warned, once you get used to having this much desktop real estate you will never want to go back. Lower response times seem to be the all the rage these days with TFT screens, especially in the gaming community. So the 25ms response time of the 213T might seem a little high compared to the 16ms times featured elsewhere. That said, we have to say that we're not completely convinced about the emphasis that is put on response times. Obviously high response times of around 50ms or above are going to have a detrimental effect on video and game playing, but we have no problem playing games on a 25ms panel.
In the box you’ll find both analogue D-SUB and digital DVI cables, along with a power cable and a CDs for the driver/manual and the Pivot Pro software.
Considering that the SyncMaster 213T is the only 21.3in screen on test we expected it to also be the most expensive, but how wrong we were. We honestly couldn’t believe our eyes when we found this screen selling for £781.98 inc VAT. So, with the Samsung you really can have the best of both worlds, superb image quality at an amazing price.
Verdict
Samsung has produced an amazing monitor in the shape of the SyncMaster 213T. Not only is this 21.3in panel a joy to behold, but the price is almost just as pleasant to look at. Unless you’re on a very tight budget, this is the large screen TFT monitor to go for.
