It is an infamous trait of technology companies to claim the fastest, lightest, largest, cheapest or thinnest without that actually being the case but rarely are they this far out...

The Asus 'LS221H' arrives with the title "World's Slimmest 22in Widescreen LCD Monitor" a mouthful and sadly it isn't anywhere close. 248 millimetres is the quoted depth (everyone includes the base when what we really care about is the panel) but BenQ's excellent FP241W has it easily licked measuring 191.7mm. Bizarre claim.

Looking past this however what we do have is a stylish LCD. Finished in genuine leather with a 9H hardness-rated diamond-cut glass surface (sounds good, eh?) and dynamic lighting built into the bezel this is a premium model. Tech specs don't let it down either: the resolution is the expected 1680 x 1050, the 2ms response time all you'll ever need, the 4,000:1 contrast ratio top notch and the 300 nits brightness more than ample. Connectivity is good too with HDMI and D-SUB (DVI is available via an adaptor).

Pricing and availability weren't released (they rarely are with Asus) but expect it to be around the £250 mark and, if it can cut out all the misplaced bragging, it should do very well indeed.
