Dell's Next 30in LCD Will Feature DisplayPort

If you read Tim's excellent article on DisplayPort last month (you may not be part of the IPC purchase Bit-tech, but we still love you guys) then this will have you purring...

Following on from Samsung's July announcement that it will build a 30 incher with DisplayPort connectivity , the Inquirer has done some digging and discovered that Dell has plans to do the same thing - adding competition to what is sure to be a white hot market space.
Dubbed the 'W3008WFP', the 30 inch panel will feature a size-defacto 2560 x 1600 native resolution and, more interestingly, a vast array of input options with the aforementioned DisplayPort backed up by HDMI, dual DVI, component video, VGA, S-video and composite. I don't know about you, but I don't own enough kit to fill all those if I tried.
Sadly, despite the Inq's impressive digging work there is no additional info on the panel itself (reduced response times, a higher colour gamut, increased brightness/contrast ratio, etc) but on connectivity alone the W3008WFP has us close to sold.
Don't expect the W3008WFP until Q1/Q2 next year but HDMI needs to watch out in 2008 because (the licence-free) DisplayPort is coming for it...
