ViewSonic is liking its firsts at the minute. Having last month unveiled the World's first 28in LCD it has now announced the World's highest resolution 19 incher.

The 'VX1940w' is a major step forward for those on a budget/with small desks since it finally brings some decent desktop real estate to a form factor typically restricted to just 1440 x 900.

A WSXGA native resolution isn't the VX1940w's only trick however since ViewSonic has given it some decent performance specs too with a none too shabby 3,000:1 contrast ratio, lightening 2ms (grey-to-grey) response time, 300cd/m2 brightness and wide 170 degree viewing angle. In addition, ViewSonic has also thrown in its own proprietary image enhancement technology which it claims will improve those all-important black levels and reduce light leakage.

Finally, the VX1940W is the first of a new line of ViewSonic monitors to feature a design overhaul showing off a sleek new bezel. A 22 incher with identical specs to it will also soon be on its way.

The VX1940w launches in Q4 for an as yet unknown price, but for those of you with restricted space this could well be your saviour.
