Is there really any excuse to have a small LCD following this release from Peakhardware...?

Debuting under its Octigen brand, the '236617LNOTG' (mouthful much?) is a stylish 22in LCD which sends the form factor crashing under the £200 bracket for the first time.

Coming in at the remarkably low price of £185.99 it doesn't appear to miss a beat with a 1680 x 1050 native resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300cd/m2 brightness and ultra low 5ms response time. Viewing angles are also impressive at 170 degrees horizontal and 160 degrees vertical meaning anyone sat either side of you will get a good clean picture too.

Perhaps my favourite aspect of the 236617-blah-blah-too-long is its incredibly slim bezel. I've rarely seen high end displays manage to use such little plastic so this is definitely a design coup. Even more impressive is that somehow Peakhardware has managed to integrate 2W stereo speakers – granted, they aren't going to get the party started, but just fitting them in is an achievement in itself.

The 236-far-too-long goes on sale immediately and, remarkably, some online retailers are discounting it to as little as £155 incl. VAT. With a three year warranty also coming as standard there really isn't a single good reason left to still be squinting at a small screen...
