Manufacturer of almost everything and recent self divider Asus has proved there is life in the well worn 22in LCD segment after all...

First spotted in prototype at CeBIT in March, the heavily anticipated 'PG221' has officially sprung into life and looks set to head our way any minute.

Interestingly many of the preliminary specs which I snagged from CeBIT has been boosted too so while the 1680 x 1050 native resolution stays, the 2000:1 contrast ratio is twice the figure I saw previously (though that could be because this is the 'dynamic contrast ratio'), the 300cd/m2 brightness is up to 320cd/m2 and the 2x 5W speakers are now quoted as 2x 10W with the same 15W integrated sub.

Elsewhere the device's connectivity remains the same (DVI with HDCP, D-Sub, composite, S-Video) which is actually one downside since it doesn't include HDMI but it is certainly even more lust worthy than it was back then. So if you like your music but have limited desk space/hate cables this is the answer...

Expect it before the end of the month for somewhere in the region of £300.
