There may be a time when we stop and think: Not yet more 20in and 22in widescreen LCDs... but that time isn't today.

Adding to the congestion in this instance is Philips with the '200WS8' and '220WS8' – I'll let you guess which model refers to which size.

Both models pack a bunch of me-too features such as WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) native resolutions, analogue (VGA) and digital (DVI) connectivity, low response times (5ms) and Vista certification but the real selling point here is 2007's buzz word: environment.

In fact, Philips states that the 200WS8 and 220WS8 offer the lowest power consumption in the industry. Frustratingly, the company doesn't then follow this up with figures but does claim "When powered on, the monitors perform at a full 10% below Energy Star requirements". Energy experts feel free to email me your cynicism...

As for the RRPs, they are reasonable with the 200WS8 the pick of the bunch at £199.99 and the 220WS8 coming in at a more hefty £329.99. Look for these to be heavily discounted online.

So anyone else not yet had a crack at the 20in and 22in monitor space?

Ikea?
Porsche?
EasyJet?
Walkers?
Durex?
