Samsung is certainly in our good books right now after serving up the excellent SyncMaster 215TW and 205BW in recent months and our affection looks set to reach stalker levels after it announced the 225BW.

At 22 inches the 225BW cuts quite a figure and the native 1680 x 1050 resolution should be a sight for sore eyes at this size. Just as impressive is the 5ms response time while the 700:1 contrast ratio and 250cd/m2 brightness are perfectly acceptable.

At 160 degrees we have seen models with marginally wider viewing angles but it shouldn’t make any great odds (know anyone who sits nigh-horizontal to an LCD to watch it?!) and Samsung quotes a 0.282 pixel pitch and lists RGB, Composite, D-Sub and DVI connectivity. Incredibly, despite measurements of 504 x 408 x 219mm the 225BW weighs just 6.9Kg so even granny could get it up the stairs.

Perhaps the most amazing part about the 225BW however is the price. The official RRP is £370 (£100 less than the 21in 215TW) and a quick search on Froogle finds it available now from under £296.

I suggest you move fast!
