Benny has dream, it is a long held dream and it involves 24 lustful black inches (wide, naturally). Santa didn’t bring it to him, but that red suited fat man is off the hook because his perfect match has just been superseded.

The 2407WFP snuck its head out on Dell Japan yesterday and left a highly positive impression. The 1920 x 1200 native resolution remains but HDCP has been added, as well as a boosted 1000:1 contrast ratio, 500 cd/m2 brightness and a lightening fast 6ms response time.

The visible angle is an ultra wide 178 degrees and a 4-in-1 card reader survives the transition. Height can be adjusted up to 100mm along with the ability to swivel the whole screen 90 degrees to create a portrait layout. For a screen which measures 559.7 x 387.9 x 195mm it weighs a dainty 8.3Kg and has a mere 20mm thick bezel.

A release (at least in Japan) is mooted for this week and a 157,500 yen price converts – at today’s rate – to £773.13. We look forward with some anticipation to an official UK announcement. Benny, well, let’s just say he’s excited
