Finally, Toshiba was showing off its new Qosmio notebook. The Qosmio range is notable for being the first notebook based Windows Media Center solution available and the new models take the Qosmio to the next level.

The Qosmio has been completely restyled in black and silver, while the 17in widescreen display sports an impressive 1,680 x 1,050 resolution. The screen is also finished with Toshiba’s TruBright coating, which is a high-contrast gloss coating, much like the X-Black screens from Sony.

The 17in G10 model also supports dual hard disks, and can be configured in a RAID 0 array for ultimate performance, or a RAID 1 array for maximum data security. There’s also an integrated Harman Kardon audio system and a DVD writer thrown in.

Of course there’s a TV tuner and full remote control bundled, to make use of the full Media Center feature set, while every conceivable cable is also in the box, to allow you to connect the Qosmio up to your home AV equipment when it’s not being used on the road.

Toshiba has also installed a Linux partition to allow you to watch TV or play music or video content without having to boot into Windows. Not only does this mean that you can be watching TV within seconds of switching the notebook on, but it also means that the battery will last that little bit longer.

As well as the 17in G10 Qosmio, there is also an F10 model, with a 15.4in screen. There are two versions of the G10 on offer – the basic version will set you back £1,799, while the fully loaded machine will cost a tad more at £2,299. If you can make do with the 15.4in screen, the F10 will cost you £1,599.
