Looking for the ultimate widescreen TFT? It may be that Dell can help you out with its stunning new 24in flat panel display.

Let's get straight to it: the 2405FPW is Dell’s largest flat panel to date. The stats look good too: it has a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 and 12ms response time (which enables clear images when gaming or showing fast motion video) and inputs are extensive with DVI and analogue connectivity, allowing users to hook up with either S-video, composite or component cables.

Fans of picture-in-picture (P-I-P) should also be pleased as the 2405FPW can view alternative source video from a CE device at the same time as you peruse your desktop. The icing on the cake is a four port USB hub with 9-in-1 card reader.

For those already smitten you’ll only have to wait until March for release. UK pricing has not yet been announced but in the US it will carry the breakthrough price point of $1199. This is less than Sony charges for its PremierPro 23in and Apple for its 23in Cinema HD. Fingers crossed everybody… NOW.

Update 24/02/2005:
Dell has just announced the 2405FPW will go on sale in the UK from 2nd March for £729 ex VAT. Not quite as cheap as US pricing had suggested, but still a bargain when lined up against its current competitors.
