Toshiba has launched a new DLP home cinema projector aimed at the entry-level market. The MT200's specifications include a native 16:9 aspect ratio, a 2,500:1 contrast ratio, and a six-segment colour wheel.

Toshiba may not be the first name you think of when it comes to home cinema but according to figures from DTC it was one of the leading brands in Europe in the first quarter of 2004. This is probably down to its ability to combine decent specifications and attractive looks with low price points.

It certainly won’t have done itself any harm with the MT200. The company already has its striking ET1 LCD projector, which is just right for the coffee table, but the MT200 should appeal to those who are after the higher contrast and richer colours that DLP provides.

The MT200, also boasts a built in de-interlacer and scaler for an improved picture and at 2.8Kg is fairly portable too.

We are expecting an MT200 to arrive shortly in the TrustedReviews offices so look out for a review in the coming weeks.
