Viewsonic Breaks LCD Speed Records

Not only are LCD panels getting bigger and cheaper, it seems that they’re also getting faster as well. Viewsonic has revealed that it will be releasing a 17in LCD panel with a record breaking response time of just 8ms. The panel will be based on Viewsonic’s VP171 model, which is currently a 16ms unit.

Fast response times are an important factor for gamers and movie fans as it ensures that the action remains smooth on screen at all times, without the slightest hint of ghosting.

The 17in model was chosen first as it is the highest selling category of panel but 8ms technology will spread across other sizes over the next sixth months.

Pricing has not been confirmed but it should be similar to the current model, though a small premium for the high spec is likely at first. The panel is expected in Europe during November.
