Interesting stuff. And reminds me how wide a skill photography really is. I'm a really not bad portrait photographer - mainly black and white. Being immodest for a moment, I ain't half bad. Yet my occasional attempts at landscapes all turn out looking like bland, flat, dull rubbish. :-)
Trouble is, I know that *technically* I'm fine. Depth of field, hyperfocal, etc etc - all stuff I know and use for portraits. But can I take a decent landscape picture. Nah. Not got the eye for it. But maybe I'll learn. ;-)

Hi: Enjoyed this article and have had some fun trying to put it into practice, with mixed results . I'm a bit new to dslr, some times when I put the camera in into aperture priority and decress the aperture I end up with an over exposed shot? and occasionally not quite as sharp as I'd like setting the focal distance acurately is a bit difficult. Finally now that I've calculated H'focal distance with equation, was the equation set up with 35mm slr's in mind and do I have allow for this?

as usual - a brief, informative, and very concise tutorial that immediately lets me where I have been going wrong. Thanks Cliff.
