In this tutorial I've used Adobe Photoshop CS3, but at least some of this technique can also be performed in Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.

In a previous tutorial I've covered selective colour replacement as a way of changing the colour of objects in an image, but there are a number of other methods. One particularly useful Photoshop technique is a method of changing the colour of one object to exactly match that of another. The function used to do this is, not too surprisingly, called Match Colour.

Let's use an example. Here we have an apple:

As you can see it is completely different from this orange:

Proverbially one should never compare apples and oranges, but what if the apple was exactly the same colour as an orange?

To do this I've used Photoshop's Match Colour function to copy the colour of the orange onto the picture of the apple. Here's how it's done.
