Markos Berndt of Milwaukee, Wisconsin wins himself our second prize this month with this beautiful photograph. Markos says "Snow and ice create the sometimes 5 ft (1.52m) high ice shelf's along Lake Michigan. Sometimes you are lucky to get a nice mix of light and absolutely beautiful ice shelf and ice floaters come together. ND grad filter and circular polarizer was used." Markos is another photographer using an older camera, in this case a 5-megapixel Minolta Dimage 7i from 2002. Markos wins himself a 1GB PNY CompactFlash card and £25 Photbox Voucher.

Our other second prize winner this month is Aijaz Khamker of Milton Keynes, UK, although I'm pretty sure this shot wasn't taken anywhere near home. Aijaz also wins 1GB PNY CompactFlash card and £25 Photbox Voucher.

Our first prize winner this month is this fantastic shot from Robert Heverly of Norwich. Says Robert "It was taken with my Nikon D50 and a Nikon 18-55 lens in December 2007. I love how the light falls, and also how if you look, you can tell it's winter, but there isn't snow all over the place, just bare trees, frost, and a shivery feeling. One of my favorite photos in a long time. The river is the Danube near Dillingen, Germany." Robert wins a 2GB PNY SD card for his D50, and a £50 Photobox voucher.

Congratulations to Robert, Aijaz and Markos, and many thanks to our runners-up and to everyone who entered, and to PNY and Photobox for supplying the prizes. Don't forget our February competition is running now, so get snapping! Please read the competition rules and entry requirements first.
