Some people went to more arduous extremes to get their winter photos. Our old friend Andrew 'Spode' Miller isn't happy unless he's up a mountain, preferably with a bike, but he takes some nice photos when he's up there.

For spectacular mountain views though, this shot by Jeffrey Levy, of Arlington, Virginia is hard to beat. I'm pretty sure this ice cave isn't actually in Virginia, but wherever it is, it's stunning.

If we gave a prize for enduring the elements to get a shot, then I think Matt Panell of Edinburgh, Scotland would have won it this month. I hope he's still got all his fingers and toes attached.
